At the DeKalb Animal Shelter, we are a staff of 3 full time employees as part of the DeKalb Animal Coalition. We are proud to say we are a low-kill shelter, we work tirelessly to partner with esteemed rescues, and strive to educate the public about responsible pet ownership. We also have the support of two non-profit organizations. We've grown considerably since our start, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!
Our shelter has made immense progress in our short 3.5 years of operation. Because of this growth, the shelter expanded beyond the available resources and various changes are currently being made from the top. The shelter is still functioning as normal with the same low-kill policies and staff. We are optimistic that forward progress will be achieved.
